Country Music Icon Loretta Lynn To Release New Album
Van Lear Rose to Be Released April 27, 2004
Nashville, Tenn – Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter
Loretta Lynn will release Van Lear Rose (Interscope Records)
on April 27, 2004. The album, produced by The White Stripes’
Jack White, was recorded in Nashville, TN in June and
September, 2003.
For over four decades, Loretta Lynn has turned stories of
wistful heartbreak and feisty femininity into memorable hit
singles. From “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)” to
“The Pill” to “When the Tingle Becomes a Chill,” she has
become the voice of every woman, relaying feelings of
helplessness and betrayal with an undeniable undertone of
strength and power. Loretta has amassed 27 #1 country hits
and she was the first woman to win the prestigious CMA
Entertainer of the Year Award in 1972.
With Van Lear Rose (the title cut is an ode to her mother),
Loretta has shared some of the most heart-wrenching and
personal songs of her groundbreaking career. Songs like
“Women’s Prison” “Family Tree” “Portland, Oregon” and “Miss
Being Mrs.” are just a sampling of the Coal Miner’s
Daughter’s extraordinary songwriting skills.
Without Loretta Lynn, it would be difficult to imagine
Shania Twain’s “Any Man of Mine” or Dixie Chicks’ “Goodbye
Earl.” She helped pave the way for women of all genres of
music. Van Lear Rose, with its moody, propulsive
arrangements, loud guitars and intimate songwriting can only
extend her profound influence into a new century – and to a
new generation of fans.
