GOOD SONGS FOR BAD TIMES
By:
Alison Bonaguro
The Los Angeles Times recently took the time to put together
a list of songs about what it feels like to be broke. What
with the depression looming and all. And by far, my favorite
on that list is Loretta Lynn’s “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” She
watched her mother’s fingers bleed washing their clothes,
her dad had to sell a hog to buy them new shoes, and he
raised eight kids on a miner’s pay.

YOU’RE LOOKING AT COUNTRY IN LORETTA LYNN’S
HOUSE
By: Craig Shelburne
Did you know you can go inside
Loretta Lynn’s plantation home? I never realized it
until this week, while driving back from Memphis, that she
offers tours of the majestic, Civil War-era house that her
husband Mooney Lynn bought for her. It’s a must-see for fans
of Coal Miner’s Daughter, since several scenes were
filmed inside. And that Crisco Kitchen!

LORETTA LYNN FANS STAND BY THEIR
WOMAN
By: Alison Bonaguro
The New York Times reported today (Aug. 4) that at Loretta
Lynn’s recent show in New Jersey, she was frail and had
little stamina. But with the support and encouragement from
her very loyal, very adoring fans, Lynn, 73, did most of her
entertaining from the comfort of a chair. Knowing that
growing older and the pain from back surgery won’t stop her
from touring — and that her fans will stand by her no matter
what — makes me love country music even more.

LORETTA LYNN PREPS TWO NEW ALBUMS
By Ken Tucker
Seventy-four-year-old legend Loretta Lynn, whose first
single, "I'm a Honky Tonk Girl," hit the country singles
chart in 1960, is as busy as ever.
She still tours, writes songs and is working on not one but
two albums. The first is a collection of her hits that she's
rerecording with John Carter Cash, the son of Johnny and
June Carter Cash, while the other is a set with her sisters,
Crystal Gayle and Peggy Sue. On June 19, she was inducted
into the Songwriters Hall of Fame during a ceremony in New
York.

Loretta has recently had a chance to spend some time with
friends old and new, including Ray Price, Trace Adkins, and
Merle Haggard.
Loretta first met Ray in Blaine, WA while playing a small
bar prior to her first record or coming to Nashville. Ray
and Loretta had a chance to catch up when they both played
recently in Oshkosh, WI. Loretta considers Ray Price one of
the greatest performers of all time!

LORETTA LYNN STEALS THE SHOW AT SONGWRITERS
HALL OF FAME INDUCTION
Written by Jim Allen
Once a year, New York City hosts a grand celebration of the
art of songwriting. Each time around, the Songwriters Hall
of Fame -- founded in 1969 by songwriter Johnny Mercer and
currently chaired by Burt Bacharach's famed writing partner,
lyricist Hal David -- leaves the flashy sets and gaudy glitz
to the Grammys and honors another batch of esteemed
songwriters at a classy, but cool, induction ceremony.
