Loretta Lynn was a part of "Vanity Fair's" annual Music Issue, which will arrive on newsstands in September. For the first time in the history of "Vanity Fair," the magazine is also including a CD Sampler for their subscribers as well as their newsstand issues. The CD includes tracks from artists VF feels have some of the best music of 2004. They chose "Mrs. Leroy Brown" from Loretta’s album Van Lear Rose. Other artists on the sampler include Ryan Adams, Beck and the Jayhawks.

How do you break the ice with Loretta Lynn, one of the greatest country music singers of all time? Why, you talk to her about “The Dukes of Hazard,” of course. That popular early ‘80s television show has a Lynn connection. In February of 1980, the singer starred in an episode titled “Find Loretta Lynn!” The plot involved a trio of bumbling crooks who kidnapped Lynn (whose tour bus had made a detour into Hazard County) and held her for $1136.15 in ransom.
