Legendary performer, Loretta Lynn headlined the Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois for three consecutive sold-out weekend shows on Friday June 22nd, Saturday June 23rd and Sunday June 24th, 2012.

The gorgeous 980 seat theatre exhibited elegance and intimacy. Large crystal chandeliers overlooked comfortable red plush seating inside the proscenium styled venue giving each patron a clear view of the concert stage.

Before the Coal Miner’s Daughter made her grand entrance, her beautiful twin daughters Patsy and Peggy also known as “The Lynns,” opened the show with a selection of songs from their latest record and a few covers. “That’s All I’ve Got To Say,” “Sara” and “One Of These Lonely Nights,” can be found on their album The Lynns II, and the girls take on Don William’s classic, “Tulsa Time” had the audience on their feet. more!

SUGARLAND, LORETTA LYNN, COURT YARD HOUNDS JOIN NASHVILLE’S LILITH FAIR LINEUP

Sugarland, Loretta Lynn and the Court Yard Hounds (featuring Martie Maguire and Emily Robison of the Dixie Chicks) will be part of Nashville’s Lilith Fair lineup, which will take place on Aug. 7 at Bridgestone Arena. Tickets go on sale May 22. The female-oriented roster will also feature co-founder Sarah McLachlan as well as Butterfly Boucher, the Indigo Girls, Janelle Monáe, Beth Orton, and Priscilla Renea. The Court Yard Hounds will appear at 13 dates on the Lilith Fair tour, while Sugarland are scheduled for six stops. Lynn will perform only in Nashville and Atlanta. Other country artists on various Lilith Fair tour dates include Emmylou Harris, Miranda Lambert and Martina McBride.

In her splendid, sparkling dress, Loretta Lynn looked like royalty as she shu
ffled through a media room Monday night at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.

  Marty Stuart thought for a moment before determining that royalty wasn’t really an apt descriptor of Lynn. Royals are so designated because of birthright, while Lynn’s ascent to fame had to do with hard work and good songs.

“She truly is an American folk hero,” Stuart said. “She’s the personification of the American dream.”

Lynn was among a diverse group of Nashville music-makers who gathered at the hotel for a gala dinner and ceremony. The occasion was Nashville’s Recording Academy Honors, and the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” was cheered along with three other honorees: the Fisk Jubilee Singers, superstar country act Rascal Flatts and contemporary Christian band Jars of Clay.
