Loretta Lynn to Be Inducted Into Music City Walk of Fame

Nashville will mark the grand re-opening of its Music City Walk of Fame by inducting Loretta Lynn in June. The Walk of Fame Park has been closed while it underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation. Lynn will be one of the first artists inducted when its re-opens, along with former White Stripes frontman Jack White, with whom she collaborated on her critically acclaimed Van Lear Rose album. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the reopening of Walk of Fame Park than with the induction of Loretta Lynn and Jack White — two very diverse artists,” Nashville Mayor Karl Dean says in a press release. “They represent what is best about Nashville with music that spans multiple genres and generations. They are great ambassadors for the creative community in our city, and I congratulate them on this wonderful honor.” Read More: Loretta Lynn to Be Inducted Into Music City Walk of Fame | http://tasteofcountry.com/loretta-lynn-music-city-walk-of-fame/?trackback=ll

Third Man Announce White Stripes’ Loretta Lynn Covers 7″, Van Lear Rose Deluxe Reissue

LLVLRrerelease The latest installment of Third Man’s Vault subscription series is centered around country icon Loretta Lynn. They’re releasing a deluxe edition vinyl reissue of her 2004 Jack White-produced album Van Lear Rose, a 7″ featuring two White Stripes covers of Lynn’s songs, and a whole lot more. Hear a snippet of their “Rated X” cover above. The White Stripes recorded their cover of “Rated X” in Detroit in 2000—it was originally intended to be a B-side to their cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”. The B-side is the band’s cover of Lynn’s “Whispering Sea”, which was performed at the Gorge Amphitheater in George, Wash. back in August 2005. It’s pressed on white vinyl. Van Lear Rose comes with a previously unreleased track from the album’s sessions called “Just to Have You Back”. It’s pressed on gold vinyl and comes in a fancy sleeve featuring gold foil embossing. The package also includes an exclusive DVD featuring new interviews with White and Lynn, plus more archival footage. There’s also a custom foil-stamped and embossed postcard, unused photos from the album’s artwork sessions, and an enamel rose pin featuring the real-life rose called Loretta Lynn Van Lear. There are a bunch of other perks to subscribing to Third Man’s Vault. Find more info here. Watch Lynn perform “Portland, Oregon” with White on “Letterman”:
